HP Printer Pin Reset [Quick Guide]
To reset the pin on your HP printer, use any of the methods below. But before trying these solutions, ensure that your printer uses at least a FutureSmart firmware version 3.2.3 or any newer version.
Embedded Web Server (EWS) – Method 1
To reset your HP printer pin using the Embedded Web Server, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open the printer’s Embedded Web Server.
i. Open a browser on your computer.
ii. Click on the browser’s address field.
iii. Type your printer’s IP address.
iv. Press the “Enter” key on your keyboard.
Step 2: If the Embedded Web Server has an already set administrator password, then you should log in using the admin credentials.
Step 3: Choose the tab labeled “Security”.
Step 4: If the Embedded Web Server doesn’t have an already set administrator password, then you need to set one first before you change the printer’s PIN.
Step 5: Go to “Set the Service Access” code and then enter a new 8-digit PIN. You cannot use special characters or letters.
Step 6: Confirm the new PIN by re-entering it in the field labeled “Verify Access Code”.
Step 7: Click “Apply”.
Step 8: Click “OK”.
Your printer will then display a confirmation that the PIN has been changed.

Preboot Menu – Method 2
To reset your HP printer pin using the Preboot menu, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open your printer’s Preboot menu.
i. For touchscreen printers: Turn off your printer and then turn it back on. Wait for 1/8 to be displayed under the HP logo. Once you see this, tap the logo.
ii. Printers with line display: Power off your printer before you power on your HP printer. Wait for the HP logo to be displayed and the Attention, Data, and Ready LED indicators are all solid. Once that happens, press the red button.
Step 2: Choose “Administrator”.
Step 3: Choose “Change Svc PWD” if you are changing the password for the first time.
If you are resetting the password after you have changed it from the original Service Access Code, then choose “Reset Svc PWD”.
Step 4: Enter an 8-digit PIN. You cannot use special characters or letters.
Step 5: Enter the same PIN again once you are prompted to confirm that the password has been changed.
